Jason Rivera Music

Born and raised in Guatemala, Jason’s musical journey began at a very young age. At 8, he joined a marching band, where he played the trumpet until he was 11. During these formative years, Jason honed his skills through numerous parades, marching band competitions, and performances.
At 11, Jason moved to Los Angeles, a transition that marked a significant turning point in his musical career. He began playing drums at a local church, where he discovered and cultivated his profound passion for music. Eager to deepen his expertise, Jason pursued advanced training, and guidance under drummers such as Ivan Edwards, Julio Osuna, JD Perez, Alberto Salas, and with the distinguished timbal player Eduardo Velazquez.
Jason’s dedication to his craft and relentless pursuit of excellence have shaped him into a versatile musician. Currently residing in Los Angeles, he actively performs in the local music scene, bringing his rich background and experience to every performance.

Jason works as a Drum Instructor at Plaza de La Raza, a Visual and Performing Arts school in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, he passionately teaches students the essentials of drumming, focusing on building a strong foundation with rudiments, timing, groove, transitions, and dynamics. Jason’s approach is all about being creative and helping students find their unique sound and style.

Outside of his teaching role, Jason is also gaining valuable experience through internships at two prominent recording studios. He’s currently interning at Lion Share Recording Studio in Beverly Hills, CA, where he’s delving into high-end recording and production techniques. Additionally, Jason is honing his skills at Mixwizard Recording Studio in Montebello, CA, working in a dynamic studio environment and deepening his understanding of music production.

2024 Highlights: Jason shared the stage with Argentine artist Viktor Kapusta, performing the best hits of "ABRACADABRA." He also performed alongside Guatemala's very own José Juan Aldana and Santa Cumbia at
Festival de Independencia Guatemala en Los Angeles, CA.
